Hey, welcome to College Compass! I’m Lola, the freshman contributor, and I couldn’t be more happy to be here. I’m the founder of Macarons in the Morning, a blog created to not only document my own adventures in college, but to help others make the most of their college years. On my blog, I value ambition, honesty, and a sense of adventure.
I’ll be attending Dartmouth College in the fall, which is an Ivy League school in the quaint town of Hanover, New Hampshire. Originally from Houston, Texas, I expect that the New England winters will not go easy on me. Brrr! I’m majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Computer Science. I also plan on going greek, playing on an intramural volleyball team, and writing for one of the school papers.
When I’m not studying or blogging, you can find me eating macarons, taking naps, or getting my hands into whatever new and creative thing I’ve discovered. Right now, I’ve decided to start learning French. I dream of travelling the world, but most of all going to France and fully immersing myself in their culture (which includes munching on macarons from Ladurée). I’ve been obsessed with France and all of its beauty for some time now, and the itch to go only grows as I get older and closer to being able to go! I hope to do my study abroad there and I think being able to speak the language makes for the most authentic experience.
I’m filled with excitement about college and the thought of going has occupied my mind all summer. There are so many things I’m looking forward to but I’d have to say I’m most excited about all the new social and academic opportunities. I can’t wait to meet tons of new people from all backgrounds who share my passion for learning and improving the world. I’m also so fortunate to be going to a college that values exploring all of my ever-changing interests and provides the opportunities to pursue them.
On here, I’ll be discussing everything that comes with being a Freshman. From braving the communal bathrooms to figuring out how to manage your time, I’ll tell you all about it. We’re in this thing together. I can’t wait to experience college with you guys!
